Grant College Prep and Digital Arts Magnet

Congratulations to Mariam Baghdasaryan, Magnet Senior!
On April 28th, the Magnet Schools of America Conference honored 10 outstanding seniors from LAUSD by giving each of them a $1000 scholarship.  Out of the hundreds of applications, our own Mariam was chosen!  She was presented her award by the current Magnet Schools of America President and LAUSD Superintendent Michelle King, and we couldn't be happier for her.  To read more about this outstanding Magnet graduate, click here for an article published in LAUSD Daily.  In the fall she will be heading off to UCLA to study Political Science, and we can't wait to watch her successes unfold!
A Visit to Little Tokyo
Thanks to Mr. Davis, Mrs. Pariser, Mr. Cecil, Ms. Blumenberg, and Mr. Marx for an amazing 9th grade Magnet field trip to Little Tokyo!  Our students learned more about Japanese culture and art on their walking tour of the neighborhood, and delved deeper into the themes of A Farewell to Manzanar with an exploration of the Japanese American National Museum
A Peek Behind the Scenes
Grant Magnet Film Students Explore Warner Brothers - read about their amazing adventure!
Many (many!!) thanks to the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum for giving us an
amazing Hamlet experience!  Our Magnet seniors LOVED every minute and learned so much!

We are proud to announce that Grant's Magnet has a new focus:  we have been renamed as the Grant College Prep and Digital Arts Magnet on the Ulysses S. Grant High School campus.

Our Magnet is committed to providing crucial skills and college-preparatory instruction in all academic subjects with a focus on Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors levels.  Students in our program are given the opportunity to experience college-level texts and interdisciplinary lessons that hone their reading, critical thinking, and writing skills.  We also infuse technology and digital media across the academic curricula, from our projects in web-based research and visual rhetoric, to our exclusive Magnet pathways such as Filmmaking, Broadcast Journalism, and Digital Imaging.

Our vision is to foster a diverse community of ethical learners who are prepared not only for the rigors of higher academia, but also for the demands of a technology-driven workforce in an ever-changing global society.  Our school community is composed of motivated students, involved parents, and highly qualified teachers who understand the importance of post-secondary education and who work together to achieve success.
