Updates for July 16, 2020

Students are in their final week of summer school. Students make sure you're making progress in ALL your summer school classes.  With only one week left, it's important to submit any missing assignments and earn the credits you need.

Earlier this week, Superintendent Beutner shared the plans for the beginning of the school year.  In recognition of the increasing cases of COVID-19 and the guidance from our local and state authorities, all LAUSD schools will open the school year in the distance learning model.

We recognize the challenges and limitations in the distance learning format, but our Grant teachers and staff will provide the best instructional program we can.  There will be some changes from the distance learning format we adopted in Spring semester, and we will share information with you soon about what the learning will look like for Fall 2020.

It will be imperative for students to start the year with the learning tools they need.  If your student needs a Chromebook or hot spot, please contact us so we can issue a device before the school year begins ([email protected]).  Grant HS Offices are closed until Thursday of next week, but we invite you to contact us after next Thursday to make arrangements for a device for any student who needs one.

We invite you to attend a LDNE Community of Schools meeting for the Valley Glen and Van Nuys communities of schools.  Our LDNE community of school administrator, Ms. Damonte, will be sharing information about the new school year and supports for families.  That meeting will be on Wednesday, July 22 at 10:30am on Zoom.  Information on how to attend will be posted on the Grant HS website, on Schoology, and is attached to this e-mail.

We will have additional information for you about distribution of textbooks, student schedules, and more in the next few weeks.
