I have a Bachelor Degree and Standard Secondary Teaching Credential from California State University Los Angeles, 1974 and 1976 respectively. My minors are in Art, Drama, and Biology. After teaching in the private sector for a year, I continued working in my minors at Holy Names College in Oakland, California. I subsequently joined a teaching community, Sisters of the Holy Names, for two years. In the early 80's, I received my Registered Nursing License from Mt. San Antonio College, and worked in smaller hospitals on the central California coast for five years.
I continued my biology minor with coursework at Cal Poly Pomona. While in the city of Santa Maria, I reactivated my teaching career but relocated to Panorama City to teach regular and AP English and do college counseling for two years at St. Genevieve High.
In 1989 I continued my teaching career at Grant High School in English and Health, and did my student Counseling towards my counseling Credential, mentored by Fran Ramirez, Head Counselor. I ran Impact Programs for high risk students in all areas of drug abuse for the following two years. I was subsequently moved into Academic/College Counseling at Grant and continued servicing students, staff, and administration for the next thirteen years. I also budgeted and led the Perkins Program for two years to improve career choices for students and do equipment upgrades in vocational areas of the physical campus.
For the past several years and today I have returned to teach English, both regular and Honors. Currently I am also teaching Exploratory Careers, 2018, and always do consider it an honor and privelege to service the students, staff, and administration at Grant High, as the school moves forward into the first quarter of the 21st Century.
