LAUSD's Local District Northeast is hosting a series of virtual town hall meetings for important updates. The Van Nuys/Valley Glen meeting will be held on Friday, April 24th at 10:30am. We invite the families for Grant High School, Van Nuys High School, and all the feeder elementary and middle schools to attend.

Join elected officials for a live presentation on the history of the Armenian Genocide. This April marks the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Traditionally, Grant HS has held a commemoration assembly. This year we are unable to host our annual event, but we encourage you to participate virtually in a Facebook Live event.

LAUSD students, parents, and community members are encouraged to watch. The presentation will review free educational resources on the Armenian Genocide that families can access.

Grant High School continues to stress the importance of promoting human dignity and confronting hate where ever and whenever it occurs.

Tuesday, April 21 marks Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. 

This year Grant was planning to recognize this day with a special assembly.  However, due to the school closures, we are unable to hold an event on campus.  Please take a few minutes today or this week in quiet reflection and acknowledgement of the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust.  The link above provides information about online commemorations you can watch.  If you wish to follow commemorations on social media tomorrow, watch for #HolocaustRemembrance and #WeRemember.

Yesterday, Superintendent Beutner announced officially that LAUSD schools would remain closed through the end of the school year.

Schools will remain closed through the end of the year; however, we will continue to provide continuity of instruction for all students.

Families that need help navigating the system will be able to receive it through virtual workshops provided by the local district.

Learning will continue through our online programs.  All students should be checking in through Schoology a few times a week; learning activities and assignments are being provided for ALL classes.  Teachers, counselors, and administrators are available through virtual office hours.  Those virtual office hours are posted on Schoology and on the Grant website.  Please e-mail me ([email protected]) if you need more details about getting in touch with a specific individual.

Students who still need devices should contact Grant HS immediately so they will be able to complete their class assignments.  I will be on campus from 10:00 - 11:00am to distribute Chromebooks tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 4/15).  If your student needs a Chromebook, please ensure you or the student comes during that time window.
