S20 P4 Animation-4 Assignments

Hello everyone, this is your last assignment. It is a short survey. You will find the link in Schoology in the Attendance assignment for 6/5-6/12. I would post it here... but I need you to click into Schoology for attendance, so it is there. If you are in two of my classes, you will only need to complete the survey once.

You do not need to turn in anything for this assignment on Google Classroom.

This is the last Pixar project we will be doing: Rendering 101

We are finished with our official sketchbooks, so for extra credit, draw whatever you want and turn in for extra points (up to 20 points).

Do you still have your bathroom passes? You can turn them in, here for extra credit (10 points each, max of 20 points). Write your name on the passes, take a picture and upload the image.

This week on Khan Academy you will learn about virtual cameras and cinematography that is used to tell a story. We will only be doing the first lesson in this unit: " How Virtual Cameras Work."

This week on Khan Academy you will learn about patterns, and making textures. There are two sections to this unit: Geometry of Dinosaur Skin and Painting with Randomness.

This week on Khan Academy you will learn about color, what it is and how to describe it. There are two sections to this unit: Introduction to Color and Color Spaces.

This week (5/4 to 5/8) we will complete Pixar in a Box unit about Lighting. This lesson is a bit shorter than the previous ones, so hopefully it will be a bit of a break for you. The lighting activities are simple and fun. You'll notice that quite a few of the exercises ask for drawing and painting. These are optional and will receive extra credit if you upload pictures. The required exercises are numbers: 3, 6 & 7. These three can be completed online within the website. Good luck!

This week (4/27 to 5/1) we will complete Pixar in a Box unit about Animation. This includes the lessons: Introduction to Animation and Mathematics of Animation Curves.

This week (4/20 to 4/24) we will complete Pixar in a Box unit about Rigging. This includes the lessons: Introduction to Rigging and Code a Character.

This week, draw different examples of textures.

This week (4/13 to 4/17) we will complete Pixar in a Box unit about Character Modeling. This includes the lessons: Modeling with Subdivision Surfaces and Mathematics of Subdivision.

This week (3/30 to 4/2) we will move on to the Pixar in a Box unit about Environment Modeling. This will include the two different lessons: Modeling Grass with Parabolas and Calculating Parabolas.

Please note: There is one optional, segment in the first lesson it is the "hands on activity." It involves using string and paper to make a project. It's actually a pretty cool activity, but I will make it optional.
IF you do it, take a picture of your work and post it here to this assignment.
You will receive EXTRA CREDIT for doing it - up to 30 points.

This is our first lesson from Khan Academy's Pixar in a Box. To access the lesson, you must sign up for khanacademy.org (or sign in if you already have an account). If signing up, use your school email address. Once, in you will see that the assignment is already posted for you. If you need it, our Khan Academy course code is: E3CDM7UC.

Problems: Some of you are having trouble finding the assignment. There may be a delay after signing in and being joined to my class. This is the direct link to this week's tutorial page (Sets and staging) we are doing:

You are supposed to finish all of the modules which are a mix of videos, activities and short quizzes.

For credit:
If you had trouble finding the assignment and you don't see my name as your coach then, chances are that your work will not show on my screen. SO.... take screenshots or pictures of all verifications (green checkmarks) showing that you completed the work.

If you had no troubles and can clearly see the assignments and that Ms. Dozois (me) is your coach, then I can see your progress and no screen shots are needed.

Finally: This supposed to be done today.... but honestly, I won't begin grading it until Monday - so you still have the weekend to finish if needed.

Write an original story for a 30 second animation. Create story boards and an animatic to portray the story. Mini-deadlines will be given in class for different parts of this project.

Follow class instructions for this activity. Points will be given for participation.

Follow the tutorial to create a lip sync animation using phonemes and audio clips.

You will create a morph between three different shapes that links to your neighbor's animation. Follow the link to see some morph examples in the animation class demo-reel. This project will use the animation principle of Pose-to-Pose animation.

Draw your name... and use two principles of animation in the process.

In your sketchbook, write down the word of the week along with its definition. Use the remainder of your time to draw sketches base on the provided drawings.
