The Los Angeles Unified School District today announced a groundbreaking partnership with Amazon to help ensure that graduating seniors who are facing serious financial hardship do not have to postpone or forgo a college education.
Under this program, Los Angeles Unified students who graduate and enroll full-time in community college will have the opportunity to secure one of several hundred jobs with flexible hours that Amazon will help make available to these students. This will allow students to attend classes and still earn money to help support their families. The initial cohort of students will be eligible to participate in the program immediately following their graduation in June 2021.

The LATTC’s  Summer 2021 STEAM Academy is scheduled to start on Monday, June 14th  As a reminder, STEAM Academy is open and completely FREE to students in grades 9-12th.  Classes for the Summer 2021 will be held exclusively online

The virtual embARC program offers high school students with an interest in architecture and design the opportunity to:

Upward Bound is a FREE college prep program. You can take college classes and/or Get Ahead classes in the Summers at LAVC. You will work with an academic advisor that becomes your mentor and will assist you with career exploration, class selection recommendations, college applications, financial aid application, tutoring, SAT prep, field trips to college campuses, camping, theme parks, and will work alongside your college counselor for additional support.

*California Credit Union Scholarship:  

California Credit Union is pleased to announce our Annual Student Scholarship program is now available!   The credit union will award 10 students with a scholarship of $1,000 each.   High school seniors and community college students transferring to a four-year university who maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 are eligible to participate. Selection criteria include academic performance, school or community involvement, a letter of recommendation, and an essay submission.  Applications are available through Friday, March 26, 2021.   Interested students can find more information and apply online at ccu.com/scholarship2021.

Beginning Jan. 12th, LA Cash for College has virtual workshops on financial aid for LAUSD high school students. Scholarships for Juniors/Seniors – Be sure to register & view a workshop, complete a workshop survey & become eligible to win a scholarship later this spring.



*Your Future LA: Beyond the Diploma is a free series of workshops for students, families and community members with a special focus on guidance for first-generation students navigating the college-going process. Sessions begin soon and run through October and November.
