UCLA Organization Speak Out for Surgery Event - 5/21/2022


The Speak Out for Surgery (SOS) is an organization at UCLA and they work to connect members of the community to healthcare and other resources, including educational resources for high-school students. They are offering an annual, virtual workshop called "Navigating College from a Pre-Health Perspective."  


At this workshop, students can learn about applying to college, how to decide their major, pre-health pathways, careers in health, paying for college, and more.  The event will be held via Zoom next Saturday, May 21st, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

San Fernando Valley Youth Leadership Academy - Deadline is Friday, June 17, 2022.
The Youth Leadership Academy is a summer leadership development program for high school students that will train and cultivate the next generation of young leaders in our community, and is open to all high school students who live in the San Fernando Valley portion of the city of Los Angeles. 
The San Fernando Valley Youth Leadership Academy is now accepting applications!
The deadline to apply is Friday, June 17, 2022.

This summer the YMCA Metropolitan of Los Angeles is offering 2 months of free gym membership to teens 12-18 years old. They will also be running different programs and events during those two months at each respected YMCA in Los Angeles.  This will be a great opportunity for teens to be active in the summer and certified in different fields such, CPR/AED. 
If you are interested in the Get Summer Program, you can use the flyer's QR code to sign-up. Also, they will need your parents to come in beginning of June and sign a waiver for you. If they have any questions, you can email Erik at: [email protected]
*Upward Bound & STEM Upward Bound Program:  
Upward Bound is a FREE college prep program. You can take college classes and/or Get Ahead classes in the Summers at LAVC. You will work with an academic advisor that becomes your mentor and will assist you with career exploration, class selection recommendations, college applications, financial aid application, tutoring, SAT prep, field trips to college campuses, camping, theme parks, and will work alongside your college counselor for additional support.
